Tesco Ireland was the big winner at last night’s FreeFrom Food Awards held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry. Tesco claimed the biggest award of the night, the coveted title of FreeFrom Product Range of the year as well as 14 additional awards for a wide range of individual products. The Product Range of the Year award recognises the retailer that offers Irish customers the most innovative and broadest range of products as well as great availability.

The FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland recognise, encourage and reward the achievements of producers and the excellence of their FreeFrom products. Overall Tesco was shortlisted in 33 categories ranging from seasonal products, pasta products, desserts, breakfast cereals to crisps and snacks.

Sheila Gallagher, commercial director, Tesco Ireland, said the retailer was delighted with the result. “Working in partnership with our suppliers we are constantly innovating to offer our customers with dietary needs greater choice and increased accessibility to free from products,” Gallagher said.

Product highlights from the awards include Gold Award wins for Tesco’s Dairy Free Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream Cones. Tesco’s Free From Onion Rings, made from rice and cornflour, also received a Gold Award.

In recognition of Coeliac Awareness Week from 8 – 15 May, Tesco is offering 33% off selected coeliac treats this week.
