Teagasc has prepared a third technology and expertise report for the dairy sector, alerting industry stakeholders to the knowledge and skill available in Ireland through its Moorepark Food Research Centre. The report, available from research disseminator RELAY, highlights the technology and expertise, facilities, equipment, and services available, as well as key contacts at Irish institutes and universities. The document aims to enable food companies to quickly locate relevant expertise and equipment, and identify appropriate assistance for research and development and other technical challenges.

The report also underlines the importance of the dairy industry to the Irish the agri-food sector. Accounting for the largest share of Ireland’s gross agriculture output, its processing sector alone has a turnover of approx €3.7 billion. The infant milk formula sector is also strategically very important to the Irish dairy industry and the wider economy, with three of the key players internationally located in Ireland.
