As Ros na Rún gets ready to broadcast its milestone Silver Jubilee of season 25 tonight at 8.30pm on TG4, it’s delighted that its sponsor, community Retail brand XL Ireland, has committed to another three year sponsorship package up to 2022.

Siopa XL, which was launched on the set of Ros na Rún in 2017, with a cameo appearance by the legendary country singer Daniel O’Donnell, is at the centre of drama in every episode of the TG4 Irish language show.

Operated by long standing Ros na Rún character Vince, who’s played by leading Galway City actor Paul McCloskey, Siopa XL has been the scene of much village gossip and stories, not least of all Vince’s recent indiscretions and his partner Caitriona’s lies! As with every village shop, it is the focal point for many village interactions, and is the engine room of the local gossip machine, while also having a role as a community support and sponsor of local Ros na Rún events.

Part of BWG Foods, XL Ireland has more than 250 stores supporting local communities all over Ireland and providing employment to almost 2,500 people locally. The XL brand has achieved significant growth in recent years, outperforming the market year after year, while consistently expanding its nationwide footprint with a strong presence in Ireland’s Gaeltacht Regions.

“Our sponsorship programme with TG4 and Ros na Rún has proven to be an excellent partnership with all parties sharing many core values including that of serving the people of the Gaeltacht regions and rural Ireland. XL has gained much exposure from the brands central presence in the Siopa XL’s story lines in Ros na Rún, which has proven to be a winning formula for all of us,” says Paul Bealin Head of XL Ireland, “hence our continued sponsorship for the next 3 years, which we’re very excited about.”

Ros na Rún is a co-production between Independent TV Production Companies EO Teilifís in Connemara and Tyrone Production in Dublin. It is the largest independent TV and artistic production outside of Dublin, Ireland’s only Rural based TV Show and Irish Language drama series, employing 160 people.

“We’re thrilled with the continued sponsorship of XL Ireland and BWG Foods,” says Marion Ní Loingsigh, Series Producer of Ros na Rún. “Siopa XL is at the heart of our fictional Gaeltacht Village in Ros na Rún, and with this partnership comes an excellent set, a good brand and product which compliments our passion for enhancing Gaeltacht rural life and we know that we can grow this partnership even stronger over the next three years”.

Season 25 of the XL sponsored Ros na Rún  returns to TG4 on Tuesday 22nd of September at 8.30pm. It will be broadcast weekly on Tuesday and Thursday at 8.30pm with an omnibus on Sunday evening at 7.30pm.
