Richmond Marketing has announced that it will be the sole distributor of two Spanish bodegas as of January 2015; Faustino branded wines from Rioja and Portia branded wines from Ribera Del Duero.

Bodegas Faustino’s range of Rioja wines is drawn from 650 hectares of family owned vineyards in the best areas of the Rioja DOCa.

With origins dating back to 1861, the Martinez family (proprietors of the Faustino Group) is one of the oldest “bodegueros” in Rioja and their Faustino brand is the most popular in Ireland, accounting for one in three bottles of the style sold in the country. The fourth generation of the family is today in control of the firm and are active in four different Spanish Appellations (DOs), own 1.900 hectares of vineyards across Spain and seven different wineries.

Part of the Faustino Group, Bodegas Portia, began its winemaking in the 1990s in the Ribera Del Duero DO region – formerly one of the Spain’s best kept secrets, a relatively unexplored part of the country’s winemaking.

Bodegas Portia made an instant mark, winning first prize as the Best Tempranillo in the World for the Portia Crianza 2003 wine. In the last 20 years this pristinely rural region, about an hour and a half north of Madrid, swept into the international spotlight as a premier source of world-class red wines.

Today, Ribera Del Duero has come to represent some of the very best of Spanish winemaking and Bodegas Portia is at the fore.
