Revenue seizes €109,000 cash and 29.65kg of Amber Leaf tobacco worth €26,000 during Waterford raid, investigations remain ongoing

Revenue officers in Waterford, assisted by the Kilkenny and Rosslare teams, have recently seized 29.65 kilograms of tobacco and approximately €109,000 in cash.

This operation, which was assisted by An Gardaí Síochána, occurred during a search of a residential property in Waterford.

Investigations continue

The tobacco, branded Amber Leaf, represents a retail value of €26,216 and a potential loss to the exchequer of €19,801.

A woman was questioned, and investigations are ongoing.

Revenue officers were granted detention orders on last week, in respect of the cash seized by Judge Geraldine Carthy at Kilkenny District Court.

These routine operations are part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
