Pizza da Piero launches new compact packaging for mini pizza bases
The smaller pack format offers added convenience for consumers seeking quick, healthier meal solutions at home

Pizza da Piero has unveiled new compact packaging for its popular mini sourdough pizza bases, designed to ‘improve convenience for both retailers and shoppers while reducing packaging usage’.
Founded in 2007 by husband-and-wife team Gianpiero de Vallier and Clíona Swan, Pizza da Piero was the first company to introduce fresh artisan-style sourdough pizza bases to the Irish retail market, ‘helping to establish what has become a strong chilled pizza category nationwide’.
Developed following further investment in packing technology at the company’s Rathcoole-based bakery, the Irish family-run brand noted that the refreshed format for the mini range of four 5” pizza bases has been designed to improve efficiency within the chilled aisle by allowing for greater flexibility around merchandising, shelf space, storage, and stock management.

Big demand
Pizza da Piero noted that demand for the mini range remains strong among busy households and young families, with regular enquiries from shoppers looking for stockists nationwide.
Made fresh daily using a slow-fermented sourdough process, the pizza bases contain no preservatives or additives and are increasingly popular for use in air fryers as well as in traditional ovens.
Convenience, efficiency, and sustainability
Speaking about the launch, co-founder Swan said: “The thinking behind the new packaging was centred around convenience, efficiency, and sustainability.
“We wanted to create a format that works better for retailers in terms of shelf space and merchandising, while also making the product easier for shoppers to store and use at home.
“As a family business, quality and consistency remain at the heart of everything we do. The new packaging also allows us to better communicate our story and Piero’s expertise while maintaining the premium feel that customers associate with Pizza da Piero.”
The launch will be supported through trade and consumer PR activity, recipe content, social media collaborations, and a summer consumer campaign, including pizza oven giveaways in partnership with fellow Irish family-run business Dominic Smith Electrical.
Pizza da Piero’s mini and large sourdough pizza bases, RRP: €3.99 and sauce are available nationwide in Dunnes Stores, Tesco, SuperValu, and independent retailers.
