A total of 35 new jobs have been created with the opening of two new Gala stores, one in the Ashdown Centre in Courtbrack, the other at Ballysimon Road, the Limerick Leader reports.

The Ashdown centre is home to Joe’s Gala, a butchery and food hall that opened last week, which will employ at total of 20 people. The premises formerly hosted an XL store, but has received extensive renovation.

15 more staff will be employed at the Ballysimon road, which opens later this month.

“We are thrilled to have two new Gala stores opening in Limerick,” Paul Cluskey, regional operations executive for Gala Retail Services said. “Both stores will create many new jobs in the communities in which they are operating.

“We look forward to supporting their stores’ successes moving forward and wish them all the best,” he added.

The new stores’ franchisees are Joe Giltinane (Ashdown Centre) and Iftakhar Rabbani (Ballysimon Road).
