Westmeath-based Mr Crumb has become the latest Irish company to be stocked in Tesco UK stores with the introduction of a new range of flavoured butters for Tesco. Mr Crumb has secured a contract to produce a new range of 100g flavoured butter logs for Tesco stores in the UK and Ireland. The range includes three savoury flavours – Garlic & Herb, Red Chilli and Three Peppercorn and one sweet flavour – Chocolate Chip & Maple Syrup’ which will be stocked in 668 Tesco UK stores.

Bernard Coyle, managing director of Mr Crumb said: “The development of these products has been six months in the making and all of the products have received overwhelmingly positive feedback in customer taste panels.”

Sheila Gallagher, commercial director at Tesco Ireland said the retailer’s butter buyer based at its head office in Dublin played a key role in this development championing Mr Crumb’s flavoured butter range as a meal accompaniment for its in-store fish counter range.

The announcement follows the news earlier this year that Ballymaloe Country Relish secured a listing in over 900 Tesco UK stores. Gallagher said Tesco was proud to support Irish and local producers, stating that it is “working with over 480 small and medium Irish local suppliers and sourcing produce from over 13,000 Irish farming families.”

The multi-award winning Mr. Crumb has been working with Tesco Ireland for 15 years specialising in small batch, hand finished products and producing stuffing, breadcrumb, butter and frozen snacks such as filled paninis and wraps. The company has also recently been nominated for the 2015/2016 European Business Award and 2015 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Award.
