Healthy export business for Northern Irish ‘detox’ juice processor

Cold-pressed 100% fruit and vegetable juices from northern Irish processor Seriously Juicy have won business in delis and independent shops in Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Sligo. Recent customers for the ‘detox’ juices, launched earlier in the year, also include the Monaghan Gaelic football club, who are using its ‘Mean Green’ as part of their training regime. Formed in 2015 by Fiona Lydon, a lawyer, and based at Newtownbutler in county Fermanagh, Seriously Juicy cold presses rich blends of raw fruits and vegetables to create a four-strong range of juices for health-conscious consumers.

Rising stars of Irish food industry in battle to become Nissan ambassadors

Five rising stars of the Irish food business have been named among the 20 finalists who are set to face off in a public vote to secure a coveted place on the Nissan Generation Next ambassador programme. Over 1,000 high-flying Irish achievers from all walks of life applied. The seven finalists who attract the highest number of votes in the online poll will each receive the keys to a brand new, taxed and insured Nissan to drive for a year as Nissan Generation Next ambassadors.

Members of the public can cast their vote for any of the 20 finalists online at www.nissangenerationnext.ie anytime up to 28 June 2016.

Innovative health and wellness company M&J Nutrition Ltd launches fortified protein yogurt to Irish market

Wexford-born duo, Michael and Jane Murphy of M&J Nutrition Ltd recently announced the launch of ProU, a new fortified yogurt in Ireland that offers some key nutritional benefits for bone and muscle health for mid-life onwards. The product, produced by Killowen Farm is the first product to be launched by M&J Nutrition Ltd, a startup team of three, based in Dublin and which plans to hire an additional two people in the months ahead. ProU yogurt will be launched to consumers at the Bloom Festival this week and will be sold through Dublin SuperValu Stores  (from 10 June) and is expected in Tesco stores later in the summer with a wider roll-out planned for other stores later in the year.

Ireland hosts international climate change conference with a carbon-neutral event programme

Ireland’s first major carbon-neutral conference, the International Energy Workshop, is taking place this week in Cork.  The event, which is hosted by the Environmental Research Institute and MaREI at UCC, brings together some of the brightest minds in energy and climate science to discuss the future energy needs of the planet.  Leading by example, the conference is entirely carbon-neutral with any energy and emissions being recorded and offset to ensure a minimal carbon footprint. The 35th International Energy Workshop marks one of the first significant technical meetings of energy and climate scientists since the signing of the Paris climate agreement (COP21) in December 2015.
