Maxol regulars rally around racer Joe

A local Maxol owner in Co. Donegal had an excellent weekend in rally driving, ensuring 2nd overall in the 2015 Irish Tarmac Championship, 1st overall in the R5 category and a 5th place finish in the Cork 20 International Rally 2015. Joe McGonigle, who owns and runs the Maxol Service Station in Muff, Donegal, is well known as a racer in his community, having progressed through the rallying classes in his Honda Civic, Citroen C2, Renault Clio and his current Skoda Fabia S2000.

McGonigle’s achievements were also commended by Fergal Harrington, group brand development manager at the Maxol Group. “He truly is a local champion,” Harrington said.

Rugby’s Wheelchair Challenge

Stephen Cluskey has been wheelchair bound since the age of 18A recent documentary on TV3 challenged some of Ireland’s elite athletes to experience first hand what everyday life is like for those confined to a wheelchair. Rugby’s Wheelchair Challenge saw Jamie Heaslip, Felix Jones, Shane Byrne and David Wallace  journey from Dublin’s Aviva stadium to Limerick’s Thomond Park using only public transport.

The programme was co-created by Stephen Cluskey of goaccessible365.com, himself a paraplegic. The aim of the documentary was to raise awareness of accessibility issues, in particular IRUPA’s Injured Rugby Players Fund.

 

Adelie Foods takes a bite of the Irish Food to Go market

Adelie is a market leader in Food-to-GoChilled food manufacturer Adelie Foods, has acquired Irish manufacturer and distributor The Bite Group ltd. The deal gives Adelie the opportunity to access the growing Irish food-to-go market, as well as strengthening its existing manufacturing operation.

Michael Keough, founder of the Bite Group, called the deal an opportunity. “It will allow us both to extend our existing customer offer,” he said, “enabling them to share with us the exciting opportunities that lay ahead.

The Bite Group has facilities in Enniskillen, Belfast, Dublin and Cork.

 

Purina Bakers Paws for Thought

The creative poster encoueaged passers-by to “press your paw” on the poster to recieve a sampler packet of Bakers Sizzlers, a bacon-flavoured dog treat designed to reinforce dogs’ immune systems and provide them with essential vitamins.

The Sizzlers were also a hit at a specially-arranged photoshoot with Purina Bakers and the DSPCA.
