Johnny Lynch and his Macroom buffalo bring a taste of Italy to West Cork in new Aldi advert

Johnny Lynch takes centre stage this week in a new advertisement commissioned by Aldi Ireland to showcase its deep commitment to Irish food and Irish farmers. The advertisement tells the story of the quintessentially Italian practice of farming buffalo and creating mozzarella with the unique caveat of it taking place in rural Ireland. Johnny Lynch, Ireland’s only buffalo farmer and producer of artisan buffalo mozzarella, sits astride the 750 kilo “Black Beauty” in the fields of West Cork, greeting and startling a young family enjoying a picnic as a group of nuns on mopeds pass by through country lanes. Using an Italian-themed score to combine the flair of Italy with all the charm of a West Cork setting, the advertisement is voiced by Ardal O’Hanlon.
