Chicken brand Manor Farm is set to send 12 volunteers from Ireland to Haiti, where they will be joined by 10 volunteers from Scandi Standard colleagues. The team’s objective is to help build chicken coops for Haitian families, in support of charity partner Haven.

Manor Farm has partnered with Haven since 2015, and this is the second year where volunteer teams have travelled to Haiti to help local families build sustainable livelihoods. To date, Manor Farm has raised over €300,000 for the Haven charity; following this trip, it will have helped to build almost 40 chicken coops in Haiti. This commitment has also made a significant contribution to local community projects in education and clean water access.

Speaking about the charity partnership, Ado Carton, CEO of Manor Farm, said he is delighted to have a team of volunteers travelling to Haiti for the project. “As a business with a long Irish heritage,” he said, “we support a number of charities in Ireland and partnering with Haven has allowed us to broaden our CSR commitment, share our values and expertise, and help educate families in Haiti to build strong and sustainable livelihoods.

“At Manor Farm,” he added, “we hope we can make a difference by supporting Haitian families in education and sustainability by building additional chicken coops and supporting local infrastructure.”

Recently-appointed Haven ambassador and retired rugby star Alan Quinlan said it is a privilege for him to be an ambassador for Haven. “Poverty and lack of sustainability in people’s lives is an important issue in Haiti,” he said, “and Manor Farm’s continued support of Haven is truly inspiring. As a new Haven ambassador, I am looking forward to travelling to Haiti with Haven and Manor Farm and aspire to help make a difference to one of the most vulnerable countries in the world.”

Throughout September, Manor Farm launched its Bringing Hope to Haiti on-pack promotion in the retail trade and independent butchers, where a 10c per pack donation will be made to charity partner Haven. The on-pack promotion will be featured on Manor Farm fresh chicken products.
