This month, Lidl Ireland is giving customers across the country the chance to win a ‘big Christmas shop’ – for the price of a €1 ticket. Ticket sales for the 2019 Lidl Trolley Dash began at Lidl stores across Ireland this week, with 100% of the proceeds from this year’s Trolley Dash being donated to Lidl’s charity partner, Jigsaw – the National Centre for Youth Mental Health.

Customers can purchase a €1 Trolley Dash ticket at the checkout in any of Lidl’s stores throughout Ireland. Customers can buy as many tickets to enter the draw as they like, giving them more chance to be one of the lucky winners randomly chosen from each of Lidl’s 162 stores.

The winners of each draw will have the opportunity to do a ‘Supermarket Sweep’ style dash around their local Lidl store, grabbing as much of their Christmas shopping as they can in just two minutes.

As the National Centre for Youth Mental Health, Jigsaw provides a range of free mental health services for young people between the ages of 12 and 25. Jigsaw is an early intervention service, working with young people when problems start to develop in an effort to prevent these from having a greater impact in the future.

With services in 13 communities across Ireland and a dedicated advice and information website, young people, parents and their guardians can benefit from the supports that Jigsaw provides. To date, Jigsaw has supported over 26,000 young people across Ireland.

Lidl Ireland’s 2018 Trolley Dash raised a total of €213,045 for Jigsaw.

David Gillick, Irish International track and field athlete, Lidl ambassador and advocate for youth mental health, believes access to mental health services during the festive season are vital.

“Christmas time can be a challenging period for many young people,” said Gillick. “The pressure to socialise with extended family and friends, financial worries, the expectations set by social media among other factors mean that access to mental health support services during this season are more important than ever.

“The proceeds raised from initiatives such as the Lidl Trolley Dash all help to support the crucial work Jigsaw are doing with young people facing mental health issues, as well as their parents and guardians,” Gillick added.
