Foodservice heavyweight, Aramark Northern Europe has launched Plant Market, its new plant-forward offering designed by culinary master Paul Gayler MBE. The launch comes as research shows 79% of Gen-Z are eager to go meatless several times a week.

In a press statement, Aramark explained that Plant Market “places a strong emphasis on vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes, while still offering a small quantity of animal protein, to maximise both flavour and nutritional value”.

Developed alongside Aramark culinary director Derek Reilly, Plant Market options have been “designed to tempt vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian and meat-eating diners alike”.

The launch sees Aramark expanding its plant and protein-based food choices across corporate, leisure and offshore dining facilities throughout the UK and Ireland and comes as part of what the company describes as it “continuous drive to ensure its menu choices meet evolving consumer lifestyle and dietary preferences”.

“The growing demand for great-tasting, plant-based options is showing no sign of abating,” said Frank Gleeson, president at Aramark Northern Europe.

“Vegan dishes saw growth of 237% in 2018 alone,” he added. “We wanted to design an offering that not only meets that demand but also showcases Aramark’s usual high standard of culinary creativity and innovation. It felt very important that we give each consumer the flexibility to adopt our food options to suit their unique preferences.”

In keeping with Aramark’s everyday values, Plant Market also prioritises supporting local producers, where possible.
