Lidl Ireland wins big at Free From Food Awards 2020

Retailer secures Best in Class for healthy bars, bread, rice cakes and snacks

Lidl Ireland racked up 16 wins in total at this year’s Free From Food Awards 2020, including four category winners in staple product groups.

Highlights from Lidl’s expanding gluten-free range include the Deluxe Fruit & Nut Almond, Sea Salt & Dark Chocolate Bar (€2.94) that picked up gold and category winner in the healthy bars category, as well the Cashew, Cherry and Dark Chocolate (€2.94) variant that secured a bronze win.

Lidl’s cookie range has been a long-time customer favourite, and its Deluxe Gluten Free Luxury Triple Chocolate Cookies (€1.79) and Just Free Ginger Cookies (€1.19) were awarded silver and bronze.

Key ranges that customers shopping free from products have always relied on are bread and snacking and Lidl have proved a success in both, with shopper favourite, Just Free Multiseed Rolls taking a triumphant overall category win for bread.

When selecting Lidl’s Just Free range, Kevin Haverty, buying director for Lidl Ireland, explained: “What sets Lidl’s Just Free range apart is our focus on flavour throughout our product selection, and that’s evident in our wins today with the likes of our Just Free Chorizo Tortilla Chips and staple items like our Multiseed Rolls.
