Lidl Ireland to open new Moycullen store, creating 25 new jobs

Lidl Ireland has confirmed it will open the doors to its brand-new store in Moycullen, Co. Galway on Thursday 27 February at 8am.
The discounter noted that the move will see the creation of 25 permanent new retail jobs in the local community.
Located in the Gaeltacht region of Co. Galway, it will also feature signage in the Irish language within the store.
Speaking ahead of the new store opening James Purcell, regional property director, Lidl Ireland, said: “Moycullen is a vibrant community, and we are proud to introduce the Lidl’s offering in the area.
“Local shoppers can now enjoy high-quality products at unbeatable prices, and we look forward to welcoming them to experience Ireland’s best value supermarket.
“This year Lidl celebrates its 25th Anniversary in Ireland, it’s a great way to begin our celebrations in Galway, launching our tenth and newest store in the county.”
Store features
The new Lidl store offers customers a premium shopping experience, with wide aisles, self-service check outs, two Deposit Return Scheme machines, long tills as well as an in-store bakery and off licence.
Externally, the store will benefit from regenerative landscaping and a spacious customer car park with dedicated EV charging spaces.
The retailer’s highlighted that the new outlet will feature an ISO 50001-certified energy management system as well as solar panels. solar panels.
Official opening
Galway Ladies Gaelic Footballers Ailbhe Davoren and team captain Kate Geraghty will join the store team on the morning to cut the ribbon and officially open the new store.
Along with opening day entertainment and middle aisle offers, early bird shoppers first in the queue will receive complimentary Lidl vouchers to spend in-store.
Commenting, Galway LGFA captain Kate Geraghty and Galway LGFA player Ailbhe Davoren, said that the new store is a “huge boost for the area.”
They, added: “Lidl has been a fantastic partner to LGFA for years, and it’s fantastic to see them investing even more in our community.
Lidl highlighted that it will donate €1,000 towards the development of a new community centre in Moycullen.
Lidl also has stores at Clifden, Oranmore, Doughiska, Tuam, Knocknacarra, Wellpark Road, Gort, Ballinasloe and Headford Road. Earlier this month, Lidl opened its newest stores at Enfield in County Meath and Ballysimon in County Limerick.
