Kelly’s Butchers triumph once again with their Christmas favourite, Kelly’s spiced beef, securing gold in the Craft Butchers ACBI National Spiced Beef competition 2024. Crafted from a closely guarded recipe using beef from their family farm, this premium delicacy is available in limited quantities each year.

Kelly’s spiced beef is available to order for Christmas from the shop in Newport and can be delivered by courier countrywide.

With a history dating back three centuries, spiced beef, a traditional Christmas delight predating the turkey, is experiencing a resurgence. While it faded in popularity in England and Wales, it maintained its status in Ireland, particularly in the southwest. Kelly’s butchers contribute to its revival, infusing Kelly’s spiced beef with their unique blend of spices.

Easy to prepare and enjoyable served hot or cold, spiced beef is a convenient and delicious option for satisfying appetites during the festive season. Simply simmer on the stovetop or bake in a water-filled casserole dish. After cooking, allow it to rest for half an hour, remove it from the bag, and it’s ready to serve.

Kelly’s butchers offers a one-stop shop for all Christmas dinner needs, including ham, turkey, duck, geese, and venison.

Seán Kelly, director, Kelly’s Butchers, said: “We are over the moon with this award. We’ve been making spiced beef to a traditional family recipe for years and it’s wonderful to get national recognition for it. We only use our own beef to ensure top quality.”
