Iceland opened its third store in Cork today, marking the twentieth Iceland store opening in Ireland. The new store is in the Eastside Retail Park, Main Street, Ballincollig, Cork.

The store opening brings 26 new jobs to Ballincollig, bringing Iceland’s total number of staff in Ireland to 440 across 20 stores in 12 counties in Ireland.  This follows last year’s announcement of the company’s €12m investment in nine new stores; more openings are scheduled to take place later this year.

The new 8,500-sq ft store in Ballincollig will not only stock Iceland’s quality frozen produce, but also produce sourced by local supplier Meade Potato Company, as well as a vast selection of chilled and ambient goods along with household essentials. Iceland is proud to support more than 40 local Irish suppliers and is home to over 2,000 grocery products, as well as being the exclusive stockist of the Slimming World range in Ireland.

We’re delighted to start 2018 with the opening of our twentieth Iceland Ireland store here in Ballincollig,” says Iceland MD Ron Metcalfe. “We look forward to welcoming existing and new customers in Cork, and showcasing the amazing quality products and fantastic value Iceland has to offer.

“Iceland is proud to work with over 40 Irish suppliers,” Metcalfe adds, “whose products enhance our frozen, grocery and chilled ranges and we’re looking forward to bringing our quality product to Ballincollig.”

Lena Thomas, store manager of Iceland Ballincollig said he was delighted at the store opening in the town. “We are excited and looking forward to bringing amazing value, products and customer service to locals and look forward to welcoming new customers in the coming weeks.”
