Tesco opens new Superstore in Tyrrelstown, creates 65 local jobs

Tesco has officially opened the doors to its 194th store in Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15, bringing 65 new jobs to the community.
The 22,000 sq. ft Superstore offers customers a bright, modern retail space with an extensive range of Irish food and drink products.
Opening from 8am-9pm daily, shoppers can enjoy the latest F&F fashion ranges, a Tesco mobile phone shop, in‑store bakery, an off‑licence, and a DRS machine.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the store features energy‑efficient lighting and modern fridges with doors to help reduce energy use. The store will also be fitted with 220 solar panels on the roof which will provide around 20 percent of the electricity needs of the store.
‘A big moment’
Oisín Gartlan, store manager, Tesco Tyrrelstown said the team is excited to welcome customers.
“This is a big moment for me and the new team that’s come together to serve our customers here in Tyrrelstown,” he added.
“We’re excited to welcome everyone to our fabulous new store, and we cannot wait to get to know, and become part of, the local community.”
‘Vote of confidence’
Local Fianna Fáil TD, Jack Chambers TD, Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, said that the news Dublin 15 store opening is a vote of confidence for the area.
“The new store will offer shoppers more choice while supporting the continued development of Tyrrelstown,” he stated.
“I look forward to Tesco becoming an active part of our community.”
Supporting local community
Supporting the local community will be a key focus for Gartlan and deputy manager Anthony Keith, Tesco noted.
Through the Tesco Community Fund, the store’s first donations will go to Tyrrelstown GAA, Tyrrelstown Karate Club, and Foróige Tyrrelstown, it added.
Every Tesco store is twinned with a local DEIS primary school, providing free healthy fresh foods weekly to support families in need through the Stronger Starts initiative. Ladyswell National School, Mulhuddart is the first local school which will be participating in the programme.
The store will also participate in Tesco’s food surplus redistribution programme, working with FoodCloud and OLIO Food Waste Heroes to ensure good food never goes to waste.
In addition, the team will support Tesco’s charity partner, the Children’s Health Foundation, which helps sick children in CHI hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght and Connolly.
