It’s a moot point at this stage, to point out how popular gin is in 2017, but here’s a case in point: Glendalough Distillery’s Wild Botanical Gin has scooped its first major international award, despite only making its debut four months ago. The brand new gin won a Gold Award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Glendalough Distillery’s Wild Botanical Gin is the newest addition to the company’s established and award-winning stable of gins. It uses fresh botanicals from the Wicklow hills, carefully and sustainably foraged from March to October by Geraldine Kavanagh, which are then slow-distilled by stillman Rowdy Rooney.
The new gin was launched in January at an invite-only party that featured Brian O’Driscoll and Amy Huberman, and the feedback on the locally-foraged spirit to date has been so positive that the company is distilling twice a day just to keep up with demand.
Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin has an RSP of €35 and is widely available from independent off-licences nationwide.
