Gavin Moran, manager of Spar Express Texaco, Junction 14, Co. Kildare, was last night named National Retail Grocery Manager of the Year 2016 at a lavish ceremony held in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.
The ShelfLife National Grocery Management Awards, held in association with Excel Recruitment, are the only awards to highlight exceptional managers, all across the country, at the heart of the Irish grocery sector.
The awards programme demonstrates the huge opportunity for graduates looking to begin a long and successful career in grocery retail.
This year’s judges said of winner Gavin Moran: “Gavin manages a flagship and a highly profitable store, where standards are exceptional. What really makes him stand out is that he has created a destination store where a transient customer has become a daily repeat visitor. With 145 staff employed, operating on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year, this eight-time award-winning business serves an impressive 5,000 customers each day.”
This year’s event, hosted by MC Brent Pope, attracted a record number of entries and attendees as previously reported here.
