Discount retailer Dealz & Pepco has announced plans to bring a major makeover to 150 of its stores across Ireland and the UK by the end of August.

The ‘Project Evo’ transformations will see each of the stores get a top-to-bottom refresh.

This will be the first significant investment in the majority of these stores for more than five years as both customer aisles and colleague areas are set for a major renovation.

Contractors are already on site in 11 locations so stores can be relaunched over the next fortnight.

On Saturday 17 February, Project Evo refurbishments will complete in Pearse Street in Mullingar and Lakeland Retail Park in Cavan, as well as Poundland stores in Urmston, Keynsham, Darlington and Plymouth in England.

Makeovers will be completed on Saturday, 24 February, at the Dealz store in Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone as well as Poundland stores in Keighley, Leeds, Coventry and Chatham. An additional 31 Project Evo makeovers will take place on subsequent Saturdays bringing the total number of stores transformed under the programme to 42 by Easter.

As part of the transformation, the stores will also get new signage, flooring and lighting. Back office colleague areas will also be given a makeover. The introduction of chilled foods will see these stores bring Dealz’s €3.50 meal deal to each location alongside.

Alan Smallman, director of property services, Poundland and Dealz, said: “Over the past five years we’ve transformed our offer for customers, adding extensive ranges of clothing, homewares, chilled and frozen food… We are now embarking on a programme that will show off those ranges in a modern and bright environment that’s easy to shop, navigate and checkout.”
