The 2008 International final of the De Kuyper Cup was the third time the prestigious worldwide cocktail competition had taken place. Held in the De Kuyper Distillery in Rotterdam, the finest bartenders from 19 countries battled for the Cup of De Kuyper, a world leader in cocktail liqueurs.

Laszlo Gal, from Barsserie 15 in Castleknock, Dublin was this year’s Irish representative and winner of the Irish competition which was held back in February. Stefania d’Angelo from Sweden was this year’s overall winner, bagging a dream trip to the Caribbean, for her cocktail ‘Summer in the City’. However, although Laszlo didn’t go home with gold he did put on an impressive show with his “Lust & Passion” cocktail.

Cocktails were judged on appearance, aroma and taste, and for the finals all bartenders were instructed to mix and shake to the theme ‘Your Night Starts Here’. Special attention was paid to motivation and creativity.

Dating from 1695, De Kuyper is worlds largest cocktail liqueur brand, with a range of 38 quality liqueurs sold in over 100 countries.
