Cycle Against Suicide has announced its Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle.
This event, scheduled for Sunday, 4 August aims to confront the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and foster a community of support and understanding.
With three out of four suicides each year being male, Cycle Against Suicide’s King of the Castle Sportif Cycle seeks to provide a platform for individuals to come together, share their stories, and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.
Men’s mental health
Neglecting men’s mental health risks the wellbeing of families, workplaces, and communities. When men are discouraged from expressing vulnerability, seeking help, or even acknowledging their mental health struggles, it fosters a culture of silence and isolation.
Cycle Against Suicide is committed to addressing this culture of silence.
By participating in this event, participants are not only advocating for mental wellbeing but also creating a safe space where individuals feel empowered to seek help without fear of judgement.
“Our mission is to dismantle the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and create a society where emotional expression is celebrated as a sign of resilience,” said Caroline Lafferty, chief executive officer, Cycle Against Suicide.
“Men, like anyone else, deserve the opportunity to articulate their struggles and seek support. Our Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle is a step towards building a community that values and supports mental wellbeing for all.”
Open to all
The Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle is open to individuals of all genders and abilities.
Women’s involvement is particularly crucial, providing invaluable perspective and encouragement to promote integral wellness for all.
Join the cycle on Sunday, 4 August to help create a society that prioritises mental health, support, and understanding.
