Clifford’s Centra, a third-generation, family-owned Centra store in Cork City Centre, is celebrating today (20 June) after selling the winning ticket for the record-breaking €250 million EuroMillions jackpot.

The winning ticket was sold at Clifford’s Centra on Shandon Street owned by local businessman Ted Clifford, whose family has proudly operated the store for three generations over 95 years.

Community

Store owner Ted Clifford and his team are overwhelmed by the news but remain grounded in their commitment to the community.

Ted Clifford said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Centra Cork City Centre sold the winning ticket for the record-breaking €250 million EuroMillions jackpot.

“As a third-generation, family-owned store, this is a proud moment for us and a truly special day for the local community.

“We warmly congratulate the lucky winner and are delighted to have played a part in such a life-changing event.

“Centra is all about our customers, and we’re overjoyed to see this incredible win happen right here in the heart of Cork.

“The excitement and joy it brings to the community is something we’re honoured to share.”

Des O’Mahony, marketing director of Centra, echoed this sentiment saying: “We’re absolutely over the moon to have sold the winning ticket, it’s a huge moment for us and for Cork.

“But this isn’t about us; it’s about our customers.

“We’re just so happy to see this kind of good fortune come to someone in our local community.

“There’s a real buzz around the place, staff, customers, everyone is sharing in the excitement.

“We wish the winner every happiness and hope this brings them great joy and opportunity.”

The Clifford family’s Centra store has long been a pillar of the community, known for its support of schools and sports clubs, notably Rockmount AFC.

Whether lending a hand or offering a friendly face, the store has quietly played a vital role in the neighbourhood for generations.

As the identity of the winner remains unknown, the store is planning local celebrations in the days ahead, inviting customers and residents to share in this once-in-a-lifetime moment.
