Black was the new white at the Sensations TV Now Awards on Saturday 18 April at the Mansion House in Dublin. The black tie event reflected the stylish new black packaging of the Walkers Sensations crisps, as a host of stars from Irish TV and the most popular British soaps came together for the Sensations sponsored event.

Big winners on the night included Katherine Kelly (Becky) of Coronation Street for Favourite Female Soap Star, Tom Lister (Carl King) of Emmerdale for Favourite Male Soap Star, and Bill Cullen (himself) of The Apprentice for Favourite Newcomer to Irish TV. The Apprentice also walked away with the award for Favourite Reality Show

The sponsorship was a strategic one for the Sensations brand with Walkers investing a substantial six figure sum. An extensive PR and advertising programme was designed to support the event. This move paid off, with the brand receiving fantastic exposure both in the build up to the event and on the night itself. The show was broadcast on Sunday 19 April on TV3, attracting 170,000 viewers.

Nicola Wells, marketing manager for Walkers, said: “This year the event underwent a transformation as the Walkers Sensations packaging has been totally restyled in stylish black with bold colour. The Sensations TV Now awards is one of Ireland’s most watched, locally-produced TV shows and a perfect fit for a brand that is part of a great night in. It was another ‘Sensational’ night enjoyed both by those who attended and viewers at home as part of their big night in.”
