The new store in Kilmacanogue offers an impressive fresh fruit and vegetables selection

Avoca announced the opening of a new Food Market today (1 December), in the surroundings of the old Jameson estate at its Kilmacanogue store, in Co. Wicklow. Avoca’s new Food Market showcases quality Irish food from an array of leading food producers and local Irish food suppliers.

Avoca has now created its new Food Market experience in three stores – Kilmacanogue, Rathcoole and Monkstown. The stores combine everyday essentials such as fresh fruit, vegetables, (both organic Irish and the best from Paris’ Rungis market) meat, fish, cheese, charcuterie and fresh breads from a range of well-known suppliers. As in Monkstown and Rathcoole, Avoca has again partnered with the very best of Irish artisan food producers.

James Whelan Craft Butchers, Ireland’s leading butcher, has created another dramatic theatre of artisan butchery with handmade wooden butcher blocks and a glass fronted chill room.

The award-winning Michie Sushi, voted Best Sushi in Ireland by the 2013 Bridgestone Guide, has a sushi bar and new to go offer.

Irish free range rotisserie chicken and meat specialist Poulet Bonne Femme has also opened its fourth rotisserie concession in the Kilmacanogue store.

As part of the new Food Market, Avoca is celebrating two new partnerships. Roberts of Dalkey has opened a fresh fish counter, offering a selection of fresh fish, sourced from local Irish fishing ports, including lobster and crab from Bullock harbour in Dalkey. In a novel service, if customers want their lobster cooked instead of alive, they simply select their lobster or crab, go for a browse or a cup of coffee and 12 minutes later the Avoca kitchens will have taken the hassle out cooking their fresh shell fish and will happily supply a herb butter to accompany it.

Also new to the fold is Mitchell and Son Wine Merchants, which will stock a selection of wines, champagnes, port, sherry and dessert wines to cater for all customers’ needs.

In keeping with growing food trends, the new gourmet Food Market includes a super food healthy eating option, “Well and Good” with an extensive range of gluten free, wheat-free and sugar-free foods. With a juice station supplying tasty juices, a cheese stand and charcuterie, it offers a variety of treats, allowing customers to do a full, healthy and wholesome grocery shop under one roof.

The extensive new range is accompanied by the already popular ready-to-go meals, salads, fresh baking and other succulent food offerings which were previously available at Avoca Food Halls.
