After nearly three years at the head of Avoca, managing director Tara O’Neill has left the company to “pursue other interests,” according to parent company Aramark.

The Irish Times described O’Neill’s departure as “unexpected” – given that it came just weeks after she expressed confidence in the chain’s future, detailing its plans to weather the upheaval caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

Shane Flynn, the managing director of Aramark in Ireland, is now to lead the high-end chain. According to the company, it has been “business as usual with everyone focusing their efforts on safely reopening the stores at Avoca Malahide and Powerscourt. ”

Aramark bought Avoca for a reputed sum of €64 million nearly four years ago.

In a recent interview with The Irish Times, Tara O’Flynn – formerly a senior executive at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group – said the company could emerge from the Covid-19 crisis by moving more business online and developing its social media presence.
