Andrew Castles has been appointed events management executive with safefood. In his role he will have overall responsibility for event management, direct marketing and stakeholder development, helping to facilitate the promotion and understanding of safefood’s core food safety and nutrition messages among consumers on the island of Ireland.

Prior to joining safefood, Andrew worked for the Ulster-Scots Heritage Council as operations and marketing communications manager. He was responsible for developing and implementing its communication strategy, organising events ranging from international highland dance competitions to cultural tourism projects, and he played a key role in developing the council’s relationships with stakeholders including members of the media, local councils, tourism associations, political representatives and political parties.

Andrew was educated at Campbell College in Belfast, holds a joint honours degree in History and Politics and has two professional qualifications in marketing, including the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Award for E-Marketing.
