An Post will increase stamp charges by 10% for domestic letters and 30 cent to international mail prices.

National and international stamps were due to rise 10 cent in March 2020, but the first Covid-19 lockdown prompted An Post to stall the price increases.

The company now intends to increase domestic letter charges from €1 to €1.10 from 27 May and international post charges from €1.70 to €2 from the same date to cover freight cost hikes sparked by the sharp fall in flights in and out of the Republic.

The CSNA said the proposed increase would offer retailers “a rare opportunity to make a decent margin rather than the paltry offering ordinarily available through An Post.”
