Aldi Ireland is planning to open a new store at Jervis Street in Ardee, Co. Louth, as part of a €160m Irish store network investment programme.

A planning application for the new store was submitted in September, with the objective of developing a new 1,315sqm ‘Project Fresh’ store.

Aldi plans to open the new store in mid-2021.  The €5m development will support up to 80 jobs during the construction phase, as well as the creation of 20 permanent jobs once the store opens.

Featuring Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design, the group has revealed the store will be powered by 100% green electricity, with 87 free car parking spaces and 12 bicycle spaces available for customers.

“This is great news for shoppers and for employment in Ardee,” said Donald Mackay, managing director, Aldi Naas region.

“Our commitment to our customers is we will never be beaten on price and will always provide the best value,” Mackay added. “Our Swap and Save campaign continues and the goal of this campaign is to remind shoppers about the saving that can be generated by swapping their weekly shop to Aldi.”

The new store will be the fifth Aldi in Co. Louth, where Aldi’s stores have donated over 70,000 meals to local charities through FoodCloud since the initiative began, saving said charities over €88,000 to date.  The Louth stores also participate in Aldi’s Community Grants Programme, with ISPCC Drogheda one of a number of Co. Louth charities that have received a €500 bursary over the last 12 months.
