Lidl Ireland recently opened the doors of its newly redeveloped store on Pottery Road, Dun Laoghaire, creating 24 jobs.
The redeveloped Pottery Road store represents a major €8 million investment by the retailer.
This extensive project, which focused on the extension and refurbishment of the existing site, have delivered a spacious, state-of-the-art retail space designed to significantly enhance the local shopping experience, Lidl Ireland noted.
Cutting of the ribbon
Dublin ladies Gaelic football captain Carla Rowe officially cut the ribbon at the opening, welcoming crowds of eager local shoppers as they enjoyed the day festivities.
To celebrate the grand reopening, Lidl noted that it offered opening day deals, and the first ten shoppers through the doors received complimentary €20 Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store.
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting, Rowe, said: “It’s great to see Lidl continuing to invest in its store network locally and in its communities.
“There was a great turnout and I’m sure shoppers will agree the changes that the store has undergone in just a couple of months are fantastic.”
Charity donation
As part of its commitment to the local community and to mark the opening celebrations, the Lidl Pottery Road store team presented a €1,000 donation in Lidl vouchers to the NRH Foundation, located at the National Rehabilitation Hospital, on Rochestown Avenue in Dun Laoghaire.
This donation represents Lidl‘s commitment to supporting the local community. The NRH Foundation supports the National Rehabilitation Hospital in providing specialist high-quality treatment, equipment, care, and rehabilitation services for patients who have suffered complex life-altering illnesses or injuries.
Modernised store features
The modernised store features a spacious 1,600 sq.m sales floor, providing a premier shopping environment equipped with self-checkouts, a customer restroom, and the popular in-store bakery offering fresh baked goods daily, the retailer noted.
Environmental sustainability is at the heart of the redevelopment, which boasts an outstanding A-energy rating, it added.
The building incorporates high-performing energy-efficient technologies, rooftop solar PV panels, and electric vehicle (EV) charging points in the spacious customer car park to support sustainable transport options for customers and staff.
Commenting on the store re-opening Niall Murray, regional managing director, Lidl Ireland, said: “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to deliver such a significant transformation and provide our customers with a premium shopping experience.”
