Lidl Ireland Introduces Irish Plant Based Vegan Burgers

Lidl Ireland has extended its current vegan offering with the introduction of an Irish-made, plant-based, vegan burger. Priced at €2.99 (2 pack) the Plant to Plate Vegan Burgers are exclusive to Lidl and are now permanently available in all 162 Lidl stores nationwide. The quarter pounder burgers are made with fresh, nutritious ingredients, packing natural goodness into every bite. Made in Co. Offaly, Lidl s Plant to Plate Vegan Burgers are produced by Loughnane’s, one of Lidl’s 225 Irish suppliers for the past eleven years.

Aramark wins prestigious catering award

The Aramark catering team based at Oracle Ireland recently won the prestigious award for the Best Catering Job at the National Hospitality Awards 2019. The awards saw some of the finest hospitality businesses in the country represented at Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel. The National Hospitality Awards recognise excellence within the hospitality industry, rewarding venues and suppliers whose services have been outstanding. Finalists were judged across a wide range of criteria including excellence in food standards, customer service, culinary creativity and innovation. Shane Flynn, Managing Director for Food Services and Facilities Management, Aramark Ireland said the award means a lot to the tean, who continuously put in the hours and effort to provide for our customers.

Galway Bay Brewery create collaborative brew for Food On The Edge

Galway Bay Brewery has collaborated with Matt Orlando and Tiago Falcone of Broaden & Build and JP McMahon to develop a special beer exclusive to Food On The Edge 2019. The small batch brew was named ‘Foreign | Native’ in recognition of the international food symposium Food On The Edge taking place in Galway this week.The concept behind the creation of the beer highlights the main theme of Food On The Edge 2019, migration. The beer was brewed using Ølands wheat, which is a Danish heritage grain, a Norwegian yeast and wild blackberries, which were foraged in the Burren. Tom Delaney, Head Brewer at Galway Bay Brewery, also led a Masterclass at Food On The Edge.

The Irishman named Irish Whiskey of the Year at Irish Whiskey Awards 2019

The Irishman whiskey was overall winner of Irish Whiskey of the Year at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2019, topping off what has been a fantastic year for The Irishman 17-Year-Old Single Malt. It was also named Best Irish Single Cask Whiskey at the Irish Whiskey Awards on top of taking home a Masters medal at the Irish Whiskey Masters earlier this year and being crowned Irish Single Cask of the Year by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2019. The Irishman 17-Year-Old Single Malt is an extremely limited release, with just three casks of 600 bottles per cask produced each year. Originally released in 2016 to mark Walsh Whiskey’s 17th year in business, the expression has become a must-have in any whiskey enthusiast’s collection.
