Fresh The Good Food Market’s Camden Street store in Dublin has been nominated as one of the world’s best stores by the World Retail Congress.

The store is a finalist in the ‘Outstanding Store Design’ (<1200 sq m) category at the 2019 World Retail Awards.

In total, 11 finalists were selected from retailers in the UK, Austria, China, Singapore, Philippines, Japan, and the USA.

The awards will be one of the highlights of the 13th edition of World Retail Congress, hosted in Amsterdam between 14 – 16 May with the aim of shining a spotlight on the many examples of innovation, creativity and world-class retailing that can be found right across the retail industry.

Entrants from 28 countries were considered for the awards across the 11 entry categories and one nominated category selected by the Grand Jury.

In an impressive result for the independent supermarket, Fresh The Good Food Market is the only Irish retailer in this year’s World Retail Awards categories.

Ian McGarrigle, chairman of the World Retail Congress highlighted the strength of competition this year. “The quality of the submissions this year has been truly outstanding,” McGarrigle said, “and I think serves to highlight the extraordinary range of innovation and transformation that is taking place across the global retail industry.”

Noel Smith, founder and managing director of Fresh The Good Food Market, said being shortlisted is “a fantastic recognition of the work our team put in to create great experiences for our customers in-store.

“We are delighted to be representing Ireland on the world stage,” Smith added. “The group of retailers in our category are leading the industry in developing fantastic stores – be they department stores, futuristic car-showrooms, telecoms concepts, fashion, cosmetics, or book stores. It’s great to be the only food retailer in such a stellar group.”
