Multiple awards for Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard
The drinks group picked up eight Gold Star Awards at this year's Irish wine show

Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard walked away with abundant awards from the NOffLA Gold Star Awards 2008, held in Dublin on 30 September. Two out of eight awards for wines in their extensive portfolio won overall awards;
. The Wine of the Year is chosen from the 15 award category winners, and deemed to be the most outstanding wine for 2008.
The Gold Star Awards 2008 Collection is a selection of wines especially chosen in a blind tasting in the National Off-Licence Association, by wine experts including independent wine writers such as Jane Boyce MW and Thomas Clancy.
Four of Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard’s leading brands, Wyndham Estate, Montana, Jacobs Creek and Campo Viejo, won top awards. The group’s wines bagged awards in the following categories:
Wine Of the Year and Best Old World White Wine Under €20 (Domaine Long-Depaquit Chablis AC);
Best Red Wine in Ireland and Best New World Red Wine Under €20 (Wyndham Estate George Wyndham Shiraz 2005);
Best New World White Wine Under €20 (Montana Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2007);
Best New World White Wine Under €14 (Jacob’s Creek Reserve Riesling 2007);
Best Old World Red Wine Under €20 (Campo Viejo Gran Reserva 2001);
Best New World Red Wine Under €8 (Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon 2007);
Best New World White Wine Under €8 (Frontera Sauvignon Blanc 2008);
Best Old World Red Wine Under €8 (Fortant Merlot).
Richard Brickley, marketing manager for wines with Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard said: “We are absolutely delighted with this result. To have the best white wine and red wine in Ireland is an enormous achievement given the huge range of excellent wines available.”
