Zambrero, the renowned Australian multinational restaurant franchise, is gearing up for its second annual meal packing event in support of World Hunger Day. The event will take place on 15 October, the day before World Hunger Day.

On the 15th, Zambrero will double donations for every burrito or bowl order. Zambrero’s mission is end world hunger with the goal to donate 1 billion meals by 2025.

Building upon the success of its inaugural event last year, Zambrero Ireland is once again rallying the community for a day of camaraderie and compassion.

With the support of 300 dedicated volunteers and the participation of esteemed sporting stars, including rugby sensation Stacey Flood, Irish sprinter Sharlene Mawdsley, and Limerick hurling superstar Gearóid Hegarty, Zambrero says it is determined to make an even greater impact by tripling its meal donations for every burrito or bowl purchased.

Zambrero’s mission to combat global hunger has been in operation since its inception in 2005. Through its ground-breaking Plate4Plate programme, Zambrero donates a nutritious meal to someone in need for every burrito or bowl sold at their restaurants. This year, it is set to surpass previous milestones, having already donated over 72 million meals globally, with 1.7 million of those contributed in Ireland.

Rise Against Hunger, Zambrero’s international distribution partner, plays a vital role in directing Zambrero’s Plate4Plate meals to communities in dire need worldwide, particularly in regions where access to adequate nutrition is scarce, primarily through school feeding programmes.

“Our mission at Zambrero is to end world hunger one meal at a time,” said general manager Darragh Fanning. “This year, Zambrero Ireland is taking a bold step towards packing 80,000 meals for those who need it most. We are proud to support World Hunger Day and shed light on this pressing issue in today’s society.”

In Ireland, Zambrero first opened its doors on Hatch Street, Dublin, in 2016 and has since expanded to 20 restaurants across the country with Zambrero O’Connell Street being the latest addition. Zambrero’s workforce across Ireland amounts to 300 staff.
