1/ Tesco UK increases Meal Deal price
Tesco UK has recently reportedly increased the price of its Meal Deal offer by 25p (29c).
The sandwich, snack and drink deal has gone up from £3.60 (€4.21) to £3.85 (€4.51) for Clubcard holders, reports BBC. Customers who do not have a loyalty card will see the price rise from £4 (€4.68) to £4.25 (€4.97).
2/ Dino Group’s deliver’s strong growth in H1
Polish retailer, Dino Group has delivered strong growth in the first half of it’s financial year, its latest financial results show. In 2025 the Dino Group’s first half revenue totaled PLN 16.0 billion (€3.7584 billion) and was 14.8% higher than the same period in 2024.
At the end of June 2025, the network consisted of 2,835 stores, 331 more than one year ago. The company’s headcount climbed to 53.5 thousand employees.
3/ CSNA issues member’s notice
In the upcoming weeks, each member will receive a call from a representative contracted by Convenience Stores & Newsagents Association (CSNA). The group noted that purpose of the call is to update its membership database with important information, including mobile numbers, email addresses, and brief store details. “We would greatly appreciate it if you could spare 5 minutes of your time to answer the questions during the call,” CSNA noted.
4/ M&S Beauty expands partnership with Estée Lauder
M&S Beauty has announced the expansion of its partnership with one of the world’s leading skincare and make-up brands, Estée Lauder.
More than 400 new Estée Lauder skincare and make-up products will be introduced to M&S this month – including the brand’s global bestseller Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. The partnership builds on the success of Estée Lauder Fragrance at M&S, the retailer noted.
The expansion into make-up and skincare with Estée Lauder – the brand that launched Advanced Night Repair in 1982, the first ever serum of its kind and a game-changer for modern skincare routines – is part of a strategic focus from M&S on the growth potential in the Beauty category. It is a key brand in its bid to enhance M&S’ skincare and make-up proposition.
5/ Checkers trials South Africa’s first smart trolley with built-in checkout
Checkers has recently begun trialling South Africa’s first smart shopping trolley, a move that is to enhance the in-store experience by allowing customers to bypass traditional checkout counters, Moneyweb has recently revealed.
The innovation, branded the Xpress Trolley, is currently being piloted at two Western Cape stores, Checkers Hyper Brackenfell and Checkers Constantia. Ten trolleys are available at each location, following initial testing with employees at the retailer’s Brackenfell head office earlier this month.
6/ Chinese food apps challenge in Brazil court
China’s Meituan and Didi, local food delivery platforms in China, have recently taken its battle to the courtroom, just three months after announcing entry into the Brazilian market, Yicai Global reports.
Didi’s 99 filed a lawsuit against Meituan’s Keeta in a São Paulo court over alleged trademark infringement and unfair competition on 18 August, claiming that Keeta’s app uses colors, graphics, and fonts similar to its 99Food app, which could confuse consumers. It also asked the court to order Keeta to redesign its logo.
7/ Shopper reveals supermarket fresh produce code
A smart shopper has revealed a little-known trick for finding the freshest fruit and vegetables at Aldi, the Daily Mail has reported.
The 26-year-old, who goes by @thefinancegurl online and is from Aberdeen, said there is a secret code on the fresh produce items that customers should look out for.
