Superquinn has launched a new €1million advertising campaign and slogan, “You’re the business.” The group’s biggest marketing investment to date, it encompasses TV, print, outdoor, radio and digital media, and is scheduled to run in bursts until May 2009.

Fiona Sweeney, senior marketing manager said it tells shoppers “how important they are to our business and how Superquinn anticipates their needs to offer a great shopping experience. It also tunes into the current economic climate by highlighting the value available.”

Value was also central to Superquinn’s recent “Cheaper than Newry” promotional weekend, between 27 and 30 November. Products included in this promotion were Fairy Dishwasher tablets 30 pack for €5, compared to €8.07 (£6.78) in Newry, Huggies nappies for €8, compared to €10.69 (£8.98) in Newry, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes 1kg for €2, compared to €4.40 (£3.70) in Newry, and Oyster Bay white wine for €10, compared to €10.65 (£8.99) in Newry.

Trading director, James Wilson said: “There is no denying that factors such as currency fluctuations, lower VAT and duty rates, and substantially lower labour costs have all combined to make Christmas shopping in the North very attractive at the moment. However at Superquinn we are not happy to just let our customers flock north without highlighting to them the great value and deals that are available [here].”
