Spar partners with olympian Sharlene Mawdsley to launch European Athletics Indoor Championships
Ahead of the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, Spar has partnered with Irish olympian Sharlene Mawdsley to inspire the nation to get moving

Spar, Ireland’s leading convenience retailer, has partnered with Irish Olympian, European Athletics Championship gold medallist and 400m star Sharlene Mawdsley to promote its ongoing commitment to Irish athletics ahead of the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn.
Spar has sponsored the European Athletics Championships since 1996, supported more than 80 competitions over those 29 years and demonstrated its major commitment to facilitating healthy lifestyles through sport.
VIP trip
Spar is running a competition to win a VIP trip for two to the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn.
Spar and Sharlene are challenging Irish fans to “get moving” by going for a run while cheering on their sporting heroes during the Championships in Apeldoorn.
With the campaign officially in full swing, Sharlene Mawdsley is encouraging Spar shoppers and the wider public to get moving and show some support for Irish athletics.
To enter simply go for a run or jog of any distance, take a screenshot of your run on your running app of choice and post it to Instagram using #TeamSpar.
The winner will be randomly selected from all entries on 28 February and, along with a friend, will be jetting off to Apeldoorn on a VIP four day trip courtesy of Spar.
Spar has also come on board as sponsor of RTÉ’s coverage of the European Athletics Indoor Championships for the duration of the event.
