A dispute centred around allegedly outstanding fees owed to solicitors firm Eversheds by Dunnes Stores has been admitted to the Commercial Court.

Eversheds claims it was retained by Dunnes Stores to act with regard to a number of contentious and non-contentious issues over the years.

The firm is now seeking judgement for €1.1 million against Dunnes Stores, The Irish Examiner reports.

Eoin McCullough senior counsel for Eversheds, told Mr Justice Brian McGovern that an agreement had been entered into for Dunnes Stores to pay €465,000 to Eversheds by early February 2016, in order to pay the fees in question. Eversheds said that if this sum wasn’t paid, it would be entitled to more than €900,000, plus Vat of €210,000 and disbursements of €20,000.

Justice McGovern adjourned proceedings to allow Dunnes Stores to prepare a defense.
