ShelfLife magazine is looking for a full time journalist to work on a contract at our offices in Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

Key requirements for the role:

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • A journalism qualification and/or a number of years’ experience working in the magazine/newspaper sector
  • Experience writing for the web and of using WordPress
  • A genuine interest in news and current affairs
  • Ability to write to strict deadlines
  • To work as part of a small team
  • Be available to attend industry events representing the magazine

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Researching features and news stories about the retail trade
  • Writing commercially sensitive articles and features
  • Writing and editing news stories and features in the publication’s house style
  • Ensuring work is well written, accurate and submitted to deadline
  • Conducting interviews, either in person or remotely
  • Generating ideas for stories
  • Sourcing images to accompany written pieces
  • Meeting with colleagues to plan the content of the issue and the character of the publication
  • Keeping up to date with trends and developments relating to the retail trade both in Ireland and globally
  • Representing the publication at seminars, events and press conferences
  • Building relationships with key contacts in the trade
