Over the week commencing 21/09/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €252,340 in various operations in Dublin, Kildare, and Cork.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations and included the following:

  • 4.5kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of almost €88,000.
  • Over 150g of ketamine, with an estimated value of over €9,000.
  • Over 158g of MDMA, with an estimated value of over €9,000.
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €3,000.
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €75,000, and represents a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €59,600.
  • 22.85 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of almost €340, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €205.
  • An Audi A4.
  • 144 other counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €64,000.

Tobacco products

Included in the tobacco products are 80,900 cigarettes, which were seized along with the Audi A4 in intelligence led operations in Dublin, Kildare, and Cork.

The Illicit cigarettes have an estimated value of €73,000 representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €57,600.

Investigations are ongoing.

The herbal cannabis seizures were made as a result of risk profiling, and with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara and Jaspar.

The parcels originated from France, Spain, Canada and the US, and  were destined for various addresses nationwide.

The cigarettes and alcohol products were seized in operations in Rosslare, the Midlands and Dublin.

Seized counterfeit goods

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.

Fifteen weapons and €4,000 cash were also seized.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations ‘targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity’.
