Quish’s SuperValu emerged as a finalist for the Best Practice Independent Retailer Sector award at the Repak Recycling Awards 2008. At Quish’s major emphasis is placed on waste management best practice in all areas of the supermarket and in-store bakery, and key to its success, the retailer focuses strongly on good staff training.

Good waste management makes good sense but the real payback for Quish’s is in the significant monetary savings made in 2007 by pursuing an aggressive waste management policy. Commenting on the award Sean Quish said: “We are thrilled with the award from Repak, it is one of the most prestigious awards in industry when it comes to the environment and I’m really proud of my staff for implementing our recycling measures on a daily basis.”
