Centra has agreed to become the anchor tenant for the Retail Centre in St. Marnock’s Bay in Portmarnock, developer Quintain has announced. St. Marnock’s Bay will eventually contain 1,200 homes and a new public park.

The addition of Centra, in a 3,20 sq ft unit fronting onto Station Road, will add a high profile retail amenity to St. Marnock’s Bay and its surrounds. The store will offer much loved favourites from the deli, a full off-licence, exclusive brands like Frank & Honest Coffee and more.

There are plans for other retail amenities to join Centra, with two other units available to let in the retail centre which adjoins the Portmarnock DART station and commuter Park & Ride. According to Quintain, the units, 985 sq ft and 1,677 sq ft in size, are ideally positioned to be occupied as a pharmacy or medical centre and a café or restaurant.

Quintain plans to deliver approximately 1,200 residential units on their 98 acres of land in Portmarnock, located close to Portmarnock Village, and Portmarnock Strand.  To date, over 270 homes have been completed with an additional 133 homes to be completed in early 2022. Planning has been lodged for the next phase of 172 homes, together with a new public park.

The Retail Centre is due for completion in late July with a target opening date in Q3 2022. Savills is the letting agent for the Centre.

“We are delighted to welcome Centra to this new retail centre, which will provide much needed facilities for the existing and planned residential communities in the area,” said Michael Hynes, joint managing director, Quintain Ireland. “The development of the Portmarnock landbank is progressing at pace and providing an excellent mix of traditional style 2,3-, and 4-bedroom houses in a prime location in Portmarnock, adjoining the DART Station.  The sales launch of a further phase of the development will commence in Q2 2022.”

Ian Allen, managing director, SuperValu and Centra said the retailer was very pleased to secure the prime retail convenience space. “We will be making a significant investment in this store to deliver a brand new, state-of-the-art Centra for the local community to enjoy,” he said. “At Centra we are committed to supporting local communities around the country and this presents a great opportunity for us to join the growing community in Portmarnock. As Ireland’s leading convenience retailer, we look forward to offering our new local customers the high quality products and great customer service which Centra is known for.”

Quintain currently owns 220 acres in the Adamstown/Lucan area, where it plans to develop over 4,000 new homes and 250,000 sq.ft. of commercial space. The company’s broader land portfolio covers 460 acres of prime assets in Ireland at Adamstown, Clonburris, Portmarnock, and Cherrywood.
