Pre-tax profits up at O’Briens Wines

Sales at O’Briens Wines’ parent company Napa Valley Ltd held pretty steady in the year to 31st March 2010, according to its annual report.

However pre-tax profits rose 64 per cent to €964,789 from €589,202 on a turnover up slightly to €51.86 million from the previous year’s €51.69 million.

At the same time, sales costs rose one per cent from €38.68 million to €39.16 million.

Operating profits were up by 16 per cent from €1.11 million to €1.29 million.

The company reduced employment levels from 242 to 231 during the year and so employment costs came down five per cent from €5.89 million to €5.60 million.
