Powerscourt Distillery, the Wicklow-based home of Fercullen Irish Whiskey, is poised for a new chapter after agreeing a sale to US private investor Altiva Management Inc following a receivership process.

Interpath Advisory

The deal, brokered by receivers Interpath Advisory, is expected to complete in the coming weeks and includes the distillery’s brands, intellectual property and a large volume of bulk whiskey, alongside the leasehold of its operating distillery and visitor centre.

All current staff are expected to transfer to the new ownership, providing continuity as the business embarks on its next phase of growth.

Altiva has committed a significant cash injection aimed at strengthening the brand’s market position, supporting innovation and driving future expansion both domestically and in key overseas markets.

Powerscourt’s insolvency and subsequent sale reflect broader pressures across the Irish whiskey sector in recent years, where evolving international trade conditions and market dynamics have challenged smaller producers.

The transaction is widely seen as a vote of confidence in the long-term potential of Irish whiskey and the Fercullen brand.
