Lidl Ireland’s new store in Knocknacarra was officially last Thursday, 24 March by Galway ladies football star and Lidl ambassador, Nicola Ward, alongside Pauline McLoughlin, store manager and Shane Brosnan, sales operations manager.

Lidl’s latest store in Galway will see a significant local investment of more than €13 million and the retailer says over 30 permanent jobs will be created.

Customers can now shop the modern store at Lidl Knocknacarra that has a spacious interior layout with a new 1,546sq m shop floor that has high ceilings and wide aisles, with the aim of creating “a comfortable shopping experience for all”. It also incorporates a large bakery area with freshly baked breads and pastries, one of Lidl’s most popular features.

The new environmentally friendly Knocknacarra store featuring roof mounted solar panels, will be powered by 100% green renewable electricity as part of its 50001 ISO certified energy management system. Free EV charging points will also be provided to customers.

“We are delighted to finally open the doors to our brand-new store in Knocknacarra,” said Pauline McLoughlin, store manager, Lidl Knocknacarra.

“The store will offer customers an even better shopping experience with its spacious design, ample parking and sustainability features throughout,” she added. “The new store is a positive addition to the local area of Knocknacarra making our fantastic range of top-quality produce available at the best possible prices. We look forward to welcoming customers.”

Advancing Lidl Ireland’s community-focused objectives under its ‘A Better Tomorrow’ corporate social responsibility programme, and to mark the opening, the staff at the Knocknacarra store have chosen to donate €1,000 in Lidl vouchers to Galway Autism Partnership, a community-based charity providing services and support to autistic people and their families living in Galway city and county.
