Lidl Ireland has recently facilitated an export deal for its Dublin-based supplier, Fusco Foods which will be the supplier’s first Lidl contract outside of Ireland.

Fusco Foods supplies Lidl Ireland with a range of roulades under the retailer’s Deluxe brand. Now, Fusco Foods is set to export to an additional Lidl market with a range of new roulade flavours in a deal worth over €2 million.

Fusco Foods has been working with Lidl Ireland since 2016, supplying the retailer with its range of popular hand-rolled Deluxe roulades in a variety of flavours. Fusco works closely with the Lidl buyers to create flavours they know the retailer’s growing customer base will love, including seasonal lines as well as the core range.

Fusco’s award-winning core range is available permanently in Lidl’s 163 stores across the country under Lidl’s Deluxe brand and includes flavours such as Raspberry & Hazelnut, Belgian Chocolate and Toffee at €3.99 each. Fusco also provides Lidl Ireland with seasonal roulade flavours including Irish Cream Liqueur, Salted Caramel and Sicilian Lemon.

As part of the export deal, Fusco Foods has been working closely with Lidl on product development to bring some tasty new flavours overseas. The hand-rolled roulades will hit shelves in September and include flavours such as Toffee Pecan Roulade, Sicilian Lemon Roulade, Raspberry & White Chocolate Roulade, Triple Chocolate Roulade and Salted Caramel & Belgian Chocolate Roulade.

Stephanie Walsh, buyer, Lidl Ireland, said the team is delighted to help Fusco Foods grow its business further.

“Like so many of Lidl’s other Irish suppliers, it’s exciting that Fusco now have the chance to bring their delicious roulades to an international market,” Walsh said. “Their products are a firm favourite among our customers in Ireland so safe to say millions of Lidl customers abroad are in for a treat!”

Nicky Fusco, owner of Fusco Foods, said working with Lidl has been “extremely positive” for the business.

“From the beginning, they allowed us the creative freedom to develop a premium range of desserts for their Deluxe brand, which has seen our retail sales grow significantly while providing a premium dessert offering for Lidl’s loyal customers,” Nicky Fusco said.

Lidl Ireland’s strong relationship with Fusco Foods has enabled the dessert maker to grow its business to a team of over 60 people over the past four years. The team at Fusco Foods prides themselves on making all sauces, curds, toffees and jams from scratch in their factory in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin.
