After weeks of anticipation, Lidl Ireland recently announced the re-opening of its newly refurbished Cork Street store. The development has seen a €3 million investment in the locality, which is just one part of Lidl’s wider €30 million investment plan for Dublin city centre over the next three years. In a press statement, Lidl said “the sizeable investment plan reflects its commitment to support Dublin city centre residents with the provision of nutritious and high-quality foods at market leading value, helping to make the city a more viable and sustainable place to live”.

Dublin LGFA player and All Star, Carla Rowe, joined the Lidl Cork Street team to officially open the newly upgraded store and welcome back their loyal customers. Customers were greeted to a fully modernised store, including upgrades to both store and car park facilities offering customers an improved shopping experience. The building lift was also upgraded to ensure greater ease of access. The re-opening of this newly refurbished Lidl store on Cork Street will ensure thousands of customers in the Dublin city region have improved access to Lidl’s ever increasing, top-quality product range at the best prices in the country.

“The past few months have been a whirlwind to say the least but it has all been more than worth it for this morning,” said Lidl Cork Street store manager, Andrius Zajenkauskas. “We’ve been warmly welcomed back by the local community and it’s been great to see so many familiar faces through the door already this morning. We have had many excited customers eagerly enquiring about our newly modernised store over the past few months, so we are thrilled to finally be opening the doors. On behalf of the entire team, I want to thank our customers and local community for their patience during the construction works – I know they will agree that it was worth it!”

Through its partnership with FoodCloud, Lidl Ireland’s Dublin city stores have provided 30,000 meals to local charities, helping to alleviate food poverty. Furthering this objective as part of its “A Better Tomorrow” corporate social responsibility programme and to mark the re-opening this morning, Lidl Cork Street welcomed representatives from Little Flower Penny Dinners to accept a donation of €1,000 to support the ongoing work they do for those in need in the Dublin city area and beyond.
