Irish Distillers, manufacturer of some of most well-known and succesful Irish whiskeys, has won two major awards at the 2017 World Whiskies Awards, which took place in London this week.

Red Breast 21 Year Old was awarded World’s Best Single Pot Still Whiskey, while Jameson Black Barrel was named Best Irish Blended Whiskey.

The World Whiskies Awards is initiated by Whiskey Magazine, and represents one of the most prestigious awards in the worldwide whiskey calendar. Each year, an international panel of judges acknowledges the producers who continue to push the boundaries  in terms of quality and innovation in whiskey. The event took place at London’s Waldorf Hotel.

Brendan Buckley, director of innovation and prestige whiskeys at Irish Distillers, said the company is delighted at its success. “We are constantly searching for new ways to bring Irish whiskey to a wider audience,” he said. “Brands like Jameson have led the way, and Black Barrel has proved popular with long-time Jameson drinkers and new customers alike.”
